We devote almost all of our time to civil appeals. Over nearly 20 years, Ken Masters has handled hundreds of civil appeals in all areas of the law. He has chaired and presented at dozens of appellate practice seminars, has chaired and served on numerous bar association committees, and actively pursues pro bono work. A President of the Washington Appellate Lawyers Association, Mr. Masters is listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" (appeals), in Washington Law & Politics' "Top 10 in Appellate Law," and in Seattle Business's Top 100 Lawyers in Washington for 2011. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
Shelby R. Frost Lemmel has focused largely on handling civil appeals since joining the firm in 2003. She has handled all aspects of appeals, from pre-appeal consultations, through briefing and argument, to post-mandate proceedings. She won the Tausend Appellate Moot Court Competition in law school, and coached the law school's moot court teams for many years. The mother of two wonderful children, she has established a solid reputation as an effective advocate in Washington's appellate courts.
Paul M. Crisalli joined the firm in 2011. While an undergraduate, he was a judicial extern at the Oregon Supreme Court for three years. After graduating from law school, he clerked for Justice Mary Fairhurst at the Washington State Supreme Court. His prior practice included both trial and appellate work. He will assist us in all aspects of our civil appellate practice.
We work as a team on our appeals, with one lawyer having primary responsibility for a case, assisted as needed by the others.
